WHERE TO FIND INFORMATION
Where do I find details about the events?
All event specific details such as schedules, rules, results, locations, equipment needs, and general information can be found under each event.
Scroll over the September Games tab, which will drop down to Sporting Events. The home page under Sporting Events has a Player Requirement breakdown and Event Overview chart which lists the number of players allowed for each event, the male/ female requirements, as well as which events can have alternates play.
To the left there is a list of all of the CCC events. Click on the event your looking for (example 8-Ball). Once you are at the event page, you can click on the icons at the top of the page to find the Schedule, Rules, Map, and Results for that event. The home page for each event also has a list of the equipment provided, equipment that is the responsibility of the player to provide and any practice information if available.
September Games> Sporting Events> Choose an Event> Schedules, Rules, Map, and Results
Master Schedules can be found under September Games> Master Schedule.
Divisional Schedules (which only lists the events on the days your division plays) can be found in the following two locations:.
1-) To find out when and where your team plays, go to that event page and click on your Division and select the event that you require the schedule for. Please note that some schedules are by division and some have all divisions listed.
Divisions> Choose your Division > Choose an Event > Schedules
2-) Or you can search for the Divisional Schedules when looking up a specific event.
September Games> Sporting Events> Choose an Event > Schedules
How does the Games Office determine the schedule?
Scheduling over 20,000 participants, from 170+ companies, divided into 6 divisions, for 21 different sporting events is not a task that the Games Office takes lightly.
Teams are randomly placed into the schedule, but we spend a number of hours reviewing the schedules to make them as fair as possible to all teams and division.
The Games Staff do their best to minimize the number of events a division plays in one evening, but sometimes overlap is unavoidable due to venue restrictions.
Unfortunately, no changes can be made to the schedules to accommodate company requests.
How many teams can we enter in each event?
Each company can only enter one (1) team per event. There simply isn't enough time and room in the events to have additional teams play per company. However, you can get more people involved by having alternates play the second game. Please see question below for details.
What is the difference between an alternate and a substitute?
Each event allows for a roster of people who can substitute throughout the game. The minimum and maximum number of players for each event can be found under the Sporting Events main page.
Example: In 3-on-3 Basketball companies can have a minimum of 3 players and a maximum of 6 players to substitute on the court during a game.
Teams will be able to field a totally new team of alternates for different games/matches in the same event if they play another company.
For example, if Team A fields a team of 6 players for basketball for a 6:00pm match against Team B, they can field a totally different team of 6 players for their 8:00pm match against Team C on the same day.
New participants (alternates) must sign the team waiver form already submitted to the registration desk prior to the start of their game time. Waiver forms will be filed alphabetically at the registration check-in desk. If there is a whole new team of alternates, they must fill out a new waiver form.
This rule only applies when teams play a different company. It does not apply to: the Mountain Bike Race, Trivia, Urban Orienteering, or 10K Run. Teams cannot rotate alternates into a game against the same company, except in case of injury.
What are the different divisions for?
Calgary Corporate Challenge has over 170 companies that participate and they are broken into divisions based on employee count. Therefore, companies are participating against other companies that are similar in size. To find out what division your company is in, go to:
September Games> Participating Teams
Where do I find the Rules for my event?
To find out the rules for each Sporting Event, go to the Sporting Event page and click on the Rules tab at the top of the page.
September Games> Sporting Events> Choose an Event > Rules
All results will be posted by 12:00 noon on the following day. Results are not updated over the weekends, but will be posted on Monday by 12:00 noon.
Please DO NOT call the Games Office, as the results are all updated and posted manually as quickly as possible.
Where will the results be posted?
The overall results for each division will be posted under:
September Games> Overall Results
All event specific results will be posted on the event page.
September Games> Sporting Events> Choose an Event > Results
Or
Divisions> Choose your Division> Choose an Event > Results
The top 6 teams in each division will always be posted. When possible a complete list of results will be made available. If the full list is not posted, either the results are not available to the Games Office or the information is delayed as the results were captured by a third-party company.
How do I know if my company advances out of their pool in round robin play?
If finals take place on a separate night from your scheduled games, a list of companies advancing will be posted under Results It is players responsibility to check the website for advancing updates.
Please check the entire schedule for your events in advance and be prepared to play through to the finals.
If my team wins, when do I get my medal?
Medal ceremonies typically take place right after the final Gold medal match has been played. The Gold, Silver and Bronze teams will all receive individual medals.
If no one on your company is there to claim the medals, it will be your company's responsibility to contact the Games Office after the September Games and arrange a pick-up or courier.
All teams will receive two (2) points for each Sporting Event in which they register for, including the following Special Events; BDO Dunwoody LLP CEO Challenge, ATCO Gas Torch Relay, Canadian Blood Services Blood Donor Challenge, Heart&Stroke Foundation Big Bike Challenge, KidSportTM Adopt-an-Athlete Challenge, and Elite Sportswear & Awards Game Board. Points are awarded when your company registers for an event on the On-line database.
Teams that DEFAULT from scheduled events will lose five (-5) points and teams that NO SHOW will lose (-10) ten points.
Companies who do not fulfill their Volunteer Requirements will lose (-20) twenty points and may lose their spot in the 2010 Games.
Team points will be awarded for placing in events as follows:
| 1st Place | 10 points |
|---|---|
| 2nd Place | 8 points |
| 3rd Place | 6 points |
| 4th Place | 5 points |
| 5th Place | 3 points |
| 6th Place | 1 point |
| 1st Place | 10 points |
|---|---|
| 2nd Place | 8 points |
| 3rd Place | 6 points |
| 4th Place | 5 points |
| 5th Place | 1 point ** |
** In pool play format, four teams will end up tied for 5th place in the standings after the single elimination finals. In this case, one point is awarded to each of the four teams.
The company with the most team points in their division wins the overall divisional championship. Second and Third place divisional trophies are also awarded.
For event specific scoring and tie breaking proceedures, please refer to the event specific rules.

Your team will be given a No Show (-10) for that event. See September Games > Regulations and Policies > Default and No Show Rule for more details.

CCC is always looking for good people to join our Primary Volunteer Committee. For more details, please go to:
Volunteers> Primary Volunteers
How does the Games Office pick new events?
There are several factors that are considered when adding or rotating out events in the CCC Games. Games Staff carefully review all of the event surveys at the end of each year and are continuously striving to improve the quality of the Games.
Most events are rotated out if the venue space is lost, participation is low, safety is a concern or another unforeseen obstacle prevents CCC from hosting that event.
Some of the biggest factors that are considered for adding new events are:
- Is the event in demand and would our participants enjoy it?
- Is there a venue that can accommodate the 170+ teams over a 3-5 day period?
- Can CCC afford the venue, or is the venue willing to partner with CCC?
- Is the event one that a co-ed team can play?
- Are we maintaining a even balance of athletic and non-athletic events?
- Can CCC organize the event in a way that is at the same standard as the rest of the events in the Games?
- Etc.
