The CCC 2020 Games so far...

Our team has been tirelessly transforming the 2020 September Games into a new socially distant, digital experience, so say hello to our “Extraordinary Circumstances”!

Where has the summer gone!? It seems like just yesterday we were all beginning to embrace the comforts of working from home and enjoying the sunshine. But as the air starts to chill and the sweaters slowly make their way out of storage, that means one thing for us here at CCC...  Let the September (virtual) Games begin!

We’ve had a mission here at Calgary Corporate Challenge over the last few months to continue to deliver the fun, well-organized, team building and engaging events you’re used to… just with a twist! As you’ve heard a thousand times this year, we’ve had to embrace these new circumstances we’re living in and come up with something unique, safe, fun and recognizably Calgary Corporate Challenge.

Extraordinary Circumstances was designed by our team in the hopes of encouraging our participants to get outside, stay active, stay connected and try something new while most of us are working from home. Since July, we’ve been rolling out new events for this year and preparing you for the ultimate challenges coming this September. These events and challenges include Step/Run/Cycling Challenges, E-Sports Tournaments , Golf/Mini Golf/Disc Golf, Trivia Night, Virtual Amazing Race and many more…

We’ve had some wonderful feedback so far and we love seeing our participants enjoying the events!

Another big change we’ve made this year is opening up the Games across the whole of Canada. We’ve had participants from offices all across the country, from Vancouver all the way to Toronto and St John’s!

Consider yourself a numbers person? Here are some fun stats from the 2020 Games (from July & August!):

  • Companies taking part in the 2020 Games: 103
  • People participating in the Suncor Step Challenge: 822
  • Total number of step: 258,989,932
  • Fastest 5KM time in the ROSEN Run Challenge: 15.47
  • Fastest 10KM time: 33.32
  • Total hours spent running: 551hrs
  • Most Twitch Streams during a single event: 8 during the League of Legends in July
  • Total KMs cycled in the Cycling Challenge: 108,825
  • Number of Trivia teams: 130

As with a normal year, we’ve been working closely with our Charity Partners to help them reach their fundraising goals. Each of our charities has outlined a “Community Goal” for the CCC Community that encompasses the continuing needs of our city, especially throughout a pandemic. There are so many ways to support the Charities this year - everything from donating funds and food, to raising awareness on social media, signing up to be a mentor and more!

While the September Games will look very different this year, we hope we’ve been able to add a little something for everyone and keep your team spirit thriving.
