Calgary Corporate Challenge Marketing & Communications Coordinator - Full Time

Location: Calgary

Contract: Full Time

Start Date: TBD

Compensation: Salary Range $42,500 - $55,000

Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, evening & weekend availability required (with notice)

What We Do

Calgary Corporate Challenge is a nonprofit events company aimed at elevating the experience of working Calgarians while providing the largest scale employee engagement event in Canada. CCC runs several events throughout each year, including our headlining event: the CCC September Games. The September Games boasts over 8,000 participants from 130+ local companies for 15 days of sports, games, cross-industry networking, and community building.

Who We Are

We’re a small team, and as is often the case with small companies, we all tend to wear a lot of hats (figuratively speaking). We work closely and collaboratively as a team on most projects and events, and we genuinely have a good time doing it. A strong corporate culture means everybody wins. Our slogan is, “Where Work Comes to Play”, and we do our best to live out that motto!

What We’re Looking For

An individual with knowledge of (and preferably a degree in) marketing and/or communications who is looking to gain meaningful work experience in the world of events, sports & recreation, and/or in the nonprofit sector.

A self-starter who is highly motivated, dependable, and organized. The right candidate will possess exceptional communication skills and a strong work AND play ethic. It also doesn’t hurt to have some familiarity with Google Workspace, Canva, Buffer, Slack, SendGrid, and Airtable.

Must have access to working internet, a computer and a phone. A valid drivers licence is also required. Evening & weekend availability may be required.

Preferred: Current CPR & First Aid Certification, ProServe

Calgary Corporate Challenge has an open hiring and recruitment policy, and we are committed to evolving diversity including but not limited to age, gender, and ethnicity.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Developing and maintaining marketing plans to achieve organizational goals
  • Acting as the main communication line between CCC & member organizations
  • Communicating with a variety of stakeholder groups including sponsors, charity partners, venues, vendors, officials, and volunteers through email, in meetings, and at events
  • Generating and managing compelling and engaging content for various channels, including our website, social media, newsletters, and marketing collateral
  • Overseeing digital marketing campaigns, monitoring and analyzing performance metrics
  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers
  • Contributing actively to the success of all CCC's events by: Communicating important information to all stakeholders pre-and-post event, providing on-site training to volunteers, and assisting in set-up, hosting, and take-down of required equipment
  • Highlighting CCC on Social Media up to and throughout CCC Events

This isn't meant to be an exhaustive list of all duties involved but should give you a good idea of what we're looking for in an ideal candidate.

Note: The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and occasionally outside in hot/cold, wet/dry conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds may be required.

Why You Should Work With Us:

  • Hands-on, practical experience in event planning and execution.
  • Unique opportunities to engage and network with stakeholders in corporate Calgary.
  • Work with a small and dynamic team in a collaborative environment. When one of us succeeds, we all succeed! And when one of us struggles, we can all go get ice cream.
  • We'll pay you (obviously!), but we also offer additional benefits including: health coverage, an HCSA, professional development allowance, cell phone costs, a wellness allowance, casual dress, and more!

To apply:

Email us (see contact below) your resume along with a cover letter telling us a little bit about yourself. We want to know the somewhat important stuff like what skills and experience you have and what you’re hoping to learn through this experience, but we also want to know the really important stuff like which sports teams you cheer for, what movie or tv show you’d recommend, or what your favourite ice cream shop in Calgary is. Yes, really. We have a spreadsheet going.

Applications will remain open until the right candidate is found. We appreciate all applications, but only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.
